Hair extensions are additional lengths of hair used to add length, volume, thickness or colour to your natural hair.
Some extensions are removable, such as Clip-Ins and Ponytails, while other methods are professionally fitted using keratin bonds, rings, tapes or weft-based fitting techniques.
Which Hair Extension Method Is Best for Me?
There isn't one method that's automatically best for everyone. The most suitable option depends on your natural hair, density, condition, lifestyle, desired result and the level of maintenance you're comfortable with.
Professionally fitted options include Nail-Tip / U-Tip, Stick-Tip / I-Tip, Nano-Tip, Micro-Loop, Tape-In and Hair Wefts. Removable options include Clip-In and Ponytail extensions.

How Long Do Hair Extensions Last?
With suitable care, HairXtensions human hair extensions typically have a usable lifespan of around 2–3 months. However, this is guidance rather than a guarantee.
Lifespan can vary depending on the fitting method, frequency of wear, washing, heat styling, maintenance, colour processing and individual aftercare. Lighter processed shades may also require additional care.
Can Hair Extensions Damage My Natural Hair?
Professionally fitted extensions need to be correctly selected, applied, maintained and removed. Excessive tension, unsuitable placement, poor maintenance or incorrect removal can place unnecessary stress on natural hair.
For semi-permanent methods, we recommend having your natural hair assessed and the extensions fitted by a suitably qualified extensionist.
Can I Colour or Tone My Hair Extensions?
We do not recommend colouring, bleaching or toning HairXtensions hair extensions, or using silver, purple, blue or other colour-depositing shampoos.
Our extension hair has already undergone processing to achieve the available shades, and further chemical processing may affect the colour, texture, condition and lifespan of the hair.

Do Professionally Fitted Extensions Need Maintenance?
Yes. Your natural hair continues to grow after extensions are fitted, so the attachment points gradually move further away from the scalp.
The appropriate maintenance schedule depends on the fitting method, natural hair growth and individual circumstances. Follow the advice provided by your extensionist and don't treat fitted extensions as a fit-and-forget product.
Can I Remove Hair Extensions Myself?
Removable products such as Clip-Ins and Ponytails are designed to be taken out after wear.
Semi-permanent methods require the correct removal products, tools and techniques. Bonds, rings, tapes and wefts should never simply be pulled from the natural hair.

How Should I Look After Human Hair Extensions?
Brush gently, use suitable aftercare products and keep fitted attachment areas clean and thoroughly dry. Conditioner, oils and heavy treatments should generally be kept away from bonds and tapes.
Human hair extensions can be heat styled, but excessive heat may contribute to dryness. Use suitable heat protection and avoid applying concentrated heat directly over fitted attachment areas.
