How to Know if it's Seasonal Hair Shedding or Permanent Hair Loss?

It's common to notice a few more hairs falling out as the weather changes. This is called seasonal hair shedding and can be a normal part of life. But how can you tell if it’s just temporary shedding or the start of permanent hair loss?

Symptoms of Permanent Hair Loss

If you're experiencing sudden and excessive hair fall, it’s important to determine the cause. It could be due to underlying health issues, stress, or even a reaction to certain medications. If your hair loss is accompanied by any of these symptoms, it's best to consult a doctor:

● Patchy hair loss
● Receding hairline
● Scalp pain or irritation
● Thinning of your hairline and temples

Symptoms of Seasonal Hair Loss

As a general rule, it's normal for a person to lose about 50 to 100 strands of hair daily, and this number might rise with seasonal changes and age. Our bodies are simply adjusting to shifts in weather, hormone levels, and even stress. You can tell that your condition is seasonal hair shedding if:

● You see more hair falling, but not in large clumps.
● The hair fall is spread across your scalp, not just in one patch.
● Your hair still looks thick and healthy.
● There is no family history of hair loss in your background.
● There's no itching, burning, or pain with your hair fall.
● You have nutritional deficiencies.
● You recently gave birth or are breastfeeding.

If you want to give your hair some volume during this time, you can use human hair extensions as long as they’re applied properly. You can also go to your stylist and ask for alternative styling options or recommend treatments to help strengthen your hair.
