Washing your hair regularly helps a lot
Your hair can attract a lot of dust and sweat which can lead to tangling. To avoid this from happening you should wash your hair regularly. First of all, make sure to detangle the hair and remove all knots. Then brush your hair on all sides. Then, when you start shampooing, use a downward movement to wash the hair. Make sure to use a high quality clear shampoo as otherwise it can damage the extensions. We also recommend for you to use a intensive conditioner, one for dry or damaged hair only on natural ends and your hair extensions, but again avoid the bonds. Do not apply too much water all of a sudden as it swell up hair and cause tangles.
How to style your hair?
Make sure to use a high quality hair extension brush or our Balmain Large Bristle Brush that has soft bristles on it. Start styling your hair from the bottom and then move slowly to the top portion. Always make sure to brush in a gentle manner and never exceed over 3 times in one day. Try to avoid using hair dryers as it will dry out your hair. Instead let it dry on its own. You can use hair straighteners please be awear of the bonds.
Precautions to take while working out
We all need to workout and while doing so you need to take care of your hair extensions as well. If you are going swimming then make sure to wear a protective rubber cap. The chlorine and salt content in the swimming pool water can cause hair to entangle. You can also try tying up your hair in ponytail form to avoid it getting wet. Note the chlorine can discolour hair extensions, so be warned!
How to care for the extensions while sleeping?
Always make sure to thoroughly dry your hair out before you hit bed for the night. So, if you are planning on washing your hair, make sure you do it several hours before bed time. You also need to tie up your hair gently before you sleep so that the hair does not tangle up.
Products to use for the hair
One good option for keeping your mane soft and tangle free is to use a leave-in conditioner. However, do not use too much of the conditioner as it can again cause hair to entangle. Do not use hair products which have alcohol as one of their ingredients. It can dry out your hair excessively. Instead, you could consult with your personal stylist on which products are best to use for your hair.

Treatment options
Try to avoid coloring your hair or perming it when you have had hair extensions applied. These contain chemicals which can damage the extensions. Try avoiding any hair treatments which contain chemicals in them. Instead, ask your stylist to suggest what treatments need to be avoided. If you do go ahead with dying you hair extensions whilst fitted, pay special attention to avoid the bonds as chemicals will weaken the bonds considerably.
