18 Inch Purple Nano Tip Hair Extensions Makeover | 0.5g Vibrant Colour
Vibrant hair colour does not always need to come from permanently colouring the natural hair.
This makeover by @chelseysshair uses 18 inch Purple 0.5g Nano Tip hair extensions to introduce a bold statement shade through individually fitted extension strands.
Because each Nano Tip is applied separately, the Purple strands can be positioned as subtle flashes, concentrated colour sections or part of a stronger multi-colour transformation, depending on the desired result and the natural hair's suitability for the planned fitting.

What Hair Extensions Were Used in This Makeover?
This transformation features Purple 18 inch 0.5g Nano Tip hair extensions.
Each strand contains approximately 0.5g of human hair and is professionally secured using a compatible Nano Ring.
Who Created This Purple Nano Tip Transformation?
The makeover was professionally created by @chelseysshair.
How Long Are the Purple Nano Tips?
The extensions are approximately 18 inches / 46cm long.
Where that length finishes on the wearer varies according to height, natural-hair length, body proportions and attachment position.
How Much Does Each Purple Nano Tip Strand Weigh?
Each individual strand weighs approximately 0.5g.
How Many Purple Nano Tips Are in One Bundle?
The current Purple 18 inch 0.5g Nano Tip product contains 25 individual strands per bundle.
How Much Hair Is in One Bundle?
At approximately 0.5g per strand, one 25-strand bundle contains around 12.5g of extension hair.
What Colour Are These Extensions?
The shade is listed as Purple within the HairX Funky/Vibrant Nano Tip range.
It is intended as a statement fashion colour rather than a natural shade match.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used as Highlights?
Yes.
A smaller number of Purple strands can be positioned as individual flashes or coloured highlights.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used for a Larger Colour Transformation?
Yes.
More strands can be incorporated into selected areas where a stronger Purple result is wanted, provided the natural hair can appropriately support the planned extension weight.
Do You Need a Full Head of Purple Nano Tips?
No.
Vibrant Nano Tips can be used selectively rather than throughout the whole head.
Why Are Nano Tips Useful for Vibrant Colour Placement?
Each extension is fitted individually, allowing the stylist to control exactly where the Purple colour appears.
This makes it possible to create anything from subtle flashes to clearly defined coloured sections.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Hidden Under the Natural Hair?
Yes, where enough natural hair is available for appropriate coverage.
This can create a more subtle colour effect when the hair is worn down, with the Purple becoming more visible when the hair moves or is styled.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used as Peekaboo Colour?
Yes.
Positioning Purple strands underneath the upper natural-hair layers can create a peekaboo effect.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used as Face-Framing Colour?
Potentially.
Face-framing placement creates a much more visible result, but there must still be enough suitable natural hair to support and conceal the fitted Nano Rings.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used in an Underlayer?
Yes.
An underlayer can provide a stronger band of Purple colour without distributing the shade across the entire head.
Can Purple Nano Tips Add Colour Without Dyeing the Natural Hair?
Yes.
The colour is already present in the extension strand, so the supporting natural-hair section does not need to be chemically coloured Purple.
Does That Mean Nano Tips Are Damage-Free?
No.
Avoiding chemical colouring on the natural hair does not make a fitted extension method completely without stress.
Natural-hair suitability, strand weight, section size, placement, maintenance and professional removal all remain important.
Can Purple Nano Tips Replace Hair Dye?
They provide additional coloured hair rather than changing the colour of the natural hair itself.
That makes them useful for someone wanting added Purple colour without permanently colouring those individual natural-hair sections.
Are Purple Nano Tips Temporary Colour?
The colour remains only while the Purple extension strands are being worn, but Nano Tips are still a professionally fitted extension method rather than a one-day removable accessory.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Mixed with Pink?
Yes.
Pink and Purple can create a bright contrasting combination within the same Nano Tip fitting.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Mixed with Fuchsia?
Yes.
Fuchsia can add a brighter pink-purple contrast where a more multi-tonal fashion-colour look is wanted.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Mixed with Electric Blue?
Yes.
Purple and Electric Blue can create a cooler-toned vibrant combination.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Mixed with Bright Red?
Yes.
Combining Purple and Bright Red can create a warmer high-contrast result.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Mixed with Burgundy?
Yes.
Burgundy can create a deeper, more muted contrast alongside brighter Purple strands.
Which Vibrant Nano Tip Colours Are Available?
The current HairX Funky/Vibrant Nano Tip range includes colours such as:
- Electric Blue
- Bright Red
- Pink
- Purple
- Fuchsia
- Burgundy
Can Several Vibrant Colours Be Used Together?
Yes.
The individual strand format makes it possible to alternate or group different colours where the overall fitting remains suitable for the natural hair.
Can You Create a Multi-Colour Nano Tip Look?
Yes.
Different Funky/Vibrant shades can be distributed through selected areas to create a multi-colour result.
Should Vibrant Colours Be Randomly Scattered?
They can be, but planned placement gives the stylist more control over how the colour appears when the hair is worn straight, waved or tied back.
Can Purple Strands Be Concentrated in One Area?
Yes.
This can create a stronger block or panel of colour.
Can Purple Strands Be Spread Throughout the Hair?
Yes.
Distributing them more widely can create smaller flashes of Purple across a larger area.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Combined with Natural-Coloured Nano Tips?
Yes.
Natural shades can provide the main length and density while selected Purple strands provide the statement colour.
Why Can a Mixed Natural and Vibrant Fitting Be Useful?
It allows most of the extensions to coordinate with the natural hair while still introducing visible fashion colour.
What Are Nano Tip Hair Extensions?
Nano Tips are individual extension strands with a fine metal attachment designed to be professionally secured using a small compatible Nano Ring.
Do Nano Tips Use Glue?
No.
Standard Nano Tip application uses Nano Rings rather than liquid adhesive.
Do Nano Tips Need Heat?
No heat-fusion connector is normally required for standard Nano Ring application.
Are Nano Tips Keratin Bonds?
No.
Nano Tips are a ring-based extension method and should not be confused with Nail-Tip / U-Tip keratin extensions.
How Are Nano Tips Professionally Fitted?
A typical professional fitting involves:
- Assessing the natural hair and scalp.
- Choosing a suitable extension strand weight.
- Planning the Purple colour placement.
- Selecting compatible Nano Rings.
- Creating an appropriate natural-hair section.
- Threading the section through the Nano Ring.
- Inserting the Nano Tip attachment.
- Positioning the ring comfortably.
- Closing it evenly using suitable professional pliers.
- Continuing through the planned fitting area.
How Small Are Nano Rings?
HairX Nano Rings are approximately 3mm.
Are Nano Rings Invisible?
No.
They are small, but attachment visibility still depends on natural-hair density, placement, ring colour, section size and hairstyle.
Are Nano Tips More Discreet Than Micro Ring Extensions?
Nano Rings are smaller than traditional Micro Rings, which can help reduce the visual size of the attachment.
That does not guarantee invisibility.
Does a Smaller Attachment Mean Less Tension?
Not automatically.
The natural-hair section still needs to support the weight of the fitted extension strand.
What Does 0.5g Mean?
0.5g describes the approximate amount of extension hair in each individual strand.
What Is the Difference Between 0.5g and 1.0g Nano Tips?
A 1.0g strand contains approximately twice as much extension hair as a 0.5g strand.
Neither weight should be assumed suitable for everyone.
Are 0.5g Nano Tips Automatically Best for Fine Hair?
No.
A lighter strand can be useful in some fittings, but natural-hair strength, density, section size and total extension weight still need professional assessment.
Why Does Strand Weight Matter?
Each extension strand adds weight to the natural-hair section supporting it.
Does 0.5g Mean Zero Tension?
No.
Any fitted extension creates some additional load on the supporting natural hair.
How Many Purple Nano Tips Are Needed?
There is no universal number.
The amount required depends heavily on whether the goal is:
- A few Purple flashes
- A concentrated colour panel
- An underlayer
- Face-framing colour
- A stronger multi-colour result
- Additional length and volume as well as colour
Do You Need 100 Purple Strands?
Not necessarily.
A colour accent may require significantly fewer strands than a broader Nano Tip fitting.
Do You Need 200 Purple Strands?
Not automatically.
General full-head guidance should not be used as a fixed rule for vibrant colour placement.
Why Should Colour Quantity Be Planned Before Ordering?
Twenty-five Purple strands can create a very different effect from 100 or 200 strands.
The stylist should plan how visible the Purple needs to be and how much extension weight is appropriate for the natural hair.
Is More Purple Hair Always Better?
No.
The amount should suit both the visual goal and the natural hair's ability to support the fitted extensions.
Can Purple Nano Tips Add Length?
Yes.
At approximately 18 inches / 46cm, they can contribute noticeable additional length depending on the client's starting hair.
Can Purple Nano Tips Add Volume?
Yes.
Each fitted strand adds extension hair, so larger colour sections can also increase density.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used Only for Colour?
Yes.
A smaller number of strands can be fitted primarily for colour rather than substantial extra length or volume.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used on Blonde Hair?
Potentially.
The contrast can make the Purple appear especially visible.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used on Brunette Hair?
Yes.
Purple can create a deeper contrasting colour against brunette natural hair.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used on Black Hair?
Yes.
The finished contrast will depend on the brightness of the Purple strands and the placement used.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Used on Red Hair?
Potentially.
The combination can create a warmer purple-red fashion-colour blend.
Does Purple Need to Match the Natural Hair?
No.
Vibrant Purple is normally chosen deliberately for contrast rather than as a traditional colour match.
Why Does Placement Matter More with Vibrant Extensions?
The stylist is designing where the colour will appear rather than simply trying to match the natural hair.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Hidden for Work or School?
Potentially.
Underlayer placement may be easier to conceal than Purple strands fitted around the hairline or crown.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Fitted Near the Hairline?
Only where sufficient suitable natural hair is available to support and cover the attachment.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Fitted Around the Sides?
Potentially, but side areas can have lower density and may need more conservative placement.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Fitted at the Nape?
Potentially.
The nape experiences more friction from clothing and movement, so aftercare and placement require extra consideration.
Why Is Natural-Hair Assessment Important?
The professional should consider:
- Natural-hair density
- Strand strength
- Hair condition
- Scalp condition
- Planned extension quantity
- Strand weight
- Colour-placement areas
Are Purple Nano Tips Suitable for Everyone?
No.
The colour may suit the client's style, but the Nano Tip method still needs to be suitable for their natural hair.
Can Nano Rings Be Fitted Too Close to the Scalp?
Yes.
The attachment should allow comfortable natural movement rather than pulling tightly against the scalp.
Should Nano Tips Hurt After Fitting?
Significant or persistent pain, pinching or pulling should not simply be accepted as normal.
Uncomfortable attachments should be professionally checked.
Why Does Section Size Matter?
The natural-hair section needs to appropriately support the selected extension strand.
Can a Natural-Hair Section Be Too Small?
Yes.
Too few natural hairs may be asked to carry too much additional extension weight.
Can a Natural-Hair Section Be Too Large?
Yes.
Too much natural hair can interfere with correct Nano Ring placement and closure.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Worn Straight?
Yes.
Compatible human hair Nano Tips can generally be straightened using suitable heat protection.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Curled?
Yes.
Keep heated styling tools away from the Nano Rings and attachment tips.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Waved?
Yes.
Waves can reveal the Purple colour differently as the extension strands move through the natural hair.
Can Straighteners Touch Nano Rings?
No.
Avoid direct contact between heated styling plates and fitted Nano Ring attachments.
Should Heat Protection Be Used?
Yes.
Use suitable thermal protection and avoid unnecessary repeated high-temperature styling.
Can Heat Fade Purple Hair Extensions?
Repeated heat can contribute to gradual colour change over time.
Can Purple Extension Colour Fade?
Yes.
Vibrant extension colours can gradually change through washing, heat, UV exposure, swimming and general wear.
Does Purple Show Fading More Easily Than Natural Shades?
Fashion colours can make tonal changes more noticeable because their vibrancy is a major part of the finished look.
Can Sunlight Fade Purple Nano Tips?
Yes.
Repeated UV exposure can contribute to fading and dryness.
Can Chlorine Affect Purple Extensions?
Yes.
Pool chemicals can affect both the condition and colour of extension hair.
Can Salt Water Affect Purple Nano Tips?
Yes.
Repeated sea-water exposure can contribute to dryness, tangling and colour change.
Can Hard Water Affect Purple Extensions?
Yes.
Mineral build-up can affect softness, manageability and colour.
Can You Swim with Purple Nano Tips?
Fitted Nano Tips can physically remain attached while swimming, but chlorine, salt water and repeated soaking can affect both colour and condition.
What Should You Do After Swimming?
Rinse the hair with fresh water as soon as practical, gently detangle it and dry the extension hair and fitted root areas thoroughly.
Can You Exercise with Purple Nano Tips?
Yes.
If the roots become damp with perspiration, make sure the Nano Ring attachment areas are dried afterwards.
How Should Purple Nano Tips Be Washed?
Wash them gently while avoiding unnecessary friction.
- Brush carefully before washing.
- Wet the hair thoroughly.
- Apply suitable shampoo to the scalp.
- Clean carefully around the Nano Ring areas.
- Avoid rubbing the extension lengths together.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Apply conditioner mainly through the mid-lengths and ends.
- Rinse again.
- Gently remove excess water.
- Dry the roots and attachment areas thoroughly.
Can Conditioner Be Used on Purple Nano Tips?
Yes.
Apply suitable conditioner mainly through the mid-lengths and ends rather than heavily coating the Nano Ring attachment areas.
Can Hair Masks Be Used?
Yes, where suitable for human hair extensions.
Use richer treatments mainly through the extension lengths.
Can Hair Oil Be Used?
Yes, sparingly through suitable mid-lengths and ends.
Avoid repeatedly saturating the Nano Rings with heavy oils.
Why Keep Heavy Products Away from Nano Rings?
Heavy or slippery product around the ring can contribute to unwanted attachment movement in some fittings.
How Should Purple Nano Tips Be Brushed?
Start at the ends and gradually work upwards.
Support the hair close to the fitted attachment areas so the brush is not repeatedly pulling against the Nano Rings.
Can Purple Nano Tips Tangle?
Yes.
Human hair extensions can tangle through friction, washing, movement, styling and insufficient brushing.
Can Nano Tips Matt Around the Roots?
Yes.
Naturally shed hair can remain held around fitted attachments and may become tangled if the root areas are not maintained properly.
Why Should Nano Tip Sections Be Separated?
Regularly checking and gently separating the fitted sections can help prevent neighbouring attachments and shed hairs from tangling together.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Blow-Dried?
Yes.
Use controlled heat and make sure the roots and Nano Ring attachment areas are thoroughly dry.
Can Purple Nano Tips Air-Dry?
The lengths may partly air-dry, but fitted attachment areas should not repeatedly remain damp for long periods.
Can You Sleep with Wet Purple Nano Tips?
No.
Wet or damp fitted extension hair can tangle and matt more easily during sleep.
How Should Purple Nano Tips Be Worn at Night?
Once completely dry, gently brush the extensions and loosely secure longer hair where appropriate.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Dyed Another Colour?
Further colouring carries risk because the extension hair has already been processed to achieve its vibrant Purple shade.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Bleached?
Further bleaching or lightening is generally best avoided unless the specific extension product is designed and approved for additional chemical processing.
Can Purple Nano Tips Be Toned?
Colour-depositing products can alter the existing Purple shade and may take unevenly on processed extension hair.
Can Purple Nano Tips Fade with Washing?
Yes.
Repeated washing can gradually affect colour intensity.
Should Vibrant Extensions Be Washed Every Day?
There is generally no reason to wash the extension lengths more often than required.
Unnecessary repeated washing increases cumulative colour and condition wear.
Can Purple Extensions Transfer Colour?
Highly coloured extension hair may sometimes release pigment when wet.
If colour transfer is noticed, take additional care around pale towels, bedding and clothing.
Can Purple Nano Tips Slip?
Yes.
Possible contributing factors include:
- Unsuitable Nano Ring choice
- Incorrect natural-hair section size
- Incorrect ring closure
- Oil or heavy product around the attachment
- Natural-hair characteristics
- Aggressive brushing
- Poor placement
- Overdue maintenance
Should You Reclamp a Loose Nano Ring Yourself?
No.
A professional should first determine why the attachment moved.
Do Nano Tips Move Down as Natural Hair Grows?
Yes.
Natural hair continues growing, so fitted Nano Rings gradually sit further from the scalp.
How Often Do Purple Nano Tips Need Maintenance?
There is no universal maintenance interval for every wearer.
Timing depends on natural-hair growth, attachment movement, root tangling, slippage, extension condition and professional advice.
Does Vibrant Colour Change the Maintenance Schedule?
Not necessarily.
The attachment method is still Nano Ring based, although the Purple colour itself may need additional care to preserve its appearance.
What Happens During Nano Tip Maintenance?
A professional may:
- Inspect the existing Nano Rings.
- Reopen the fitted rings.
- Remove suitable extension strands.
- Release naturally shed hair.
- Check the natural hair and scalp.
- Assess the condition and colour of the extension hair.
- Use fresh compatible Nano Rings where appropriate.
- Refit suitable strands closer to the scalp.
Why Is Loose Hair Seen During Maintenance?
Natural hair continues its normal shedding cycle while extensions are fitted.
Some shed hairs remain held within the attachment until the Nano Ring is opened.
Does Shed Hair Automatically Mean Damage?
No.
Naturally shed full-length hairs are different from short broken hairs or visible reductions in natural-hair density.
How Are Purple Nano Tips Removed?
The fitted Nano Ring is professionally reopened using suitable Nano Ring removal pliers before the extension and natural hair are separated.
Do Nano Tips Need Acetone for Removal?
No.
Standard Nano Tips use a mechanically closed Nano Ring rather than a heat-fused keratin bond.
Should a Closed Nano Ring Be Pulled Down the Hair?
No.
The ring should be properly reopened before removal.
Why Is Pulling a Closed Ring a Problem?
Dragging a ring that is still gripping the natural hair creates unnecessary mechanical stress.
Can Nano Tips Be Removed at Home?
Professional removal is recommended, particularly where attachments are grown out, distorted or surrounded by root tangling.
Can Purple Nano Tip Hair Be Reused?
Potentially.
If the extension hair and Nano Tip attachment remain in suitable condition, the strands can be professionally assessed for refitting.
Can Nano Rings Be Reused?
Fresh compatible Nano Rings are generally preferable for refitting because previously worn rings have already been compressed and reopened.
Does Refitting Restore Faded Purple Hair?
No.
Refitting changes the attachment position but does not restore colour or condition lost through previous wear.
How Long Do Purple Nano Tips Last?
There is no guaranteed lifespan that applies to every wearer.
The condition of the extension hair depends on:
- Fitting
- Brushing
- Washing frequency
- Heat styling
- UV exposure
- Swimming
- Water quality
- Products used
- Professional maintenance
When Should Purple Nano Tips Be Replaced?
Replacement may be appropriate when the extension hair becomes:
- Severely dry
- Persistently tangled
- Very thin through the ends
- Heavily heat damaged
- Significantly faded
- Damaged around the Nano Tip attachment

Final Thoughts
This makeover gives the page a much stronger identity when it focuses on the actual transformation: 18 inch Purple 0.5g Nano Tips professionally fitted by @chelseysshair.
The current Purple product contains 25 individual strands per bundle, with approximately 0.5g per strand and 12.5g of extension hair per bundle.
Because Nano Tips are individual strands, the Purple colour can be positioned in several different ways. A small number of strands can create flashes or peekaboo colour, while larger sections can produce a much more noticeable vibrant transformation.
Purple can also be combined with Pink, Fuchsia, Electric Blue, Burgundy, Bright Red or natural-coloured Nano Tips where a multi-colour or mixed natural-and-vibrant fitting is wanted.
The colour itself is already present in the extension hair, so the natural section supporting each strand does not need to be chemically coloured Purple. However, Nano Tips are still a fitted extension method and require suitable natural hair, correct strand weight, section size, professional fitting, maintenance and removal.
Vibrant extension colour also needs realistic aftercare expectations. Washing, heat, UV exposure, chlorine, salt water, mineral build-up and general wear can all affect Purple colour intensity and extension condition over time.
With suitable natural hair, thoughtful colour placement and consistent aftercare, Purple Nano Tips can create anything from subtle flashes of violet to a much bolder statement-colour transformation.
