How to Remove Micro-Loop Hair Extensions
Section the Hair
Work through controlled rows so each fitted Micro Ring can be clearly identified.
Isolate One Attachment
Separate the Micro-Loop extension from neighbouring hair and support the natural-hair section close to the attachment.
Check the Ring Shape
Identify how the Micro Ring was compressed during application before positioning your opener pliers.
Reopen the Micro Ring
Apply controlled pressure with suitable removal pliers to reshape the flattened ring and create enough internal space for release.
Release the Extension
Once the Micro Ring has opened sufficiently, gently separate the extension from the natural hair.

What if a Micro Ring Will Not Open?
Stop pulling and reassess the attachment.
- Check that the opener pliers are positioned correctly.
- Check the direction in which the ring was originally compressed.
- Look for distortion or previous over-clamping.
- Check whether root tangling is holding the attachment in place.
- Reopen the ring further before attempting removal again.
A ring that is still gripping the hair should not simply be pulled down the section. Create enough space inside the ring for it to release first.
Why Is There Loose Hair Around the Micro-Loop?
Naturally shed hairs can remain held inside a fitted Micro Ring until the attachment is opened during maintenance or removal.
Natural Shedding
Complete naturally released hairs may remain around the fitted section instead of immediately falling away.
Breakage
Short snapped hairs, progressive thinning or obvious loss of density should be considered separately from ordinary shedding.
What if the Root Area Is Matted?
If shed natural hairs have tangled around a grown-out attachment, remove the Micro Ring before attempting aggressive detangling.
- Support the natural hair close to the scalp.
- Separate loose hairs gradually with your fingers.
- Work from the outside of the tangle towards compact areas.
- Use a suitable comb only once the main tangle has loosened.
- Never cut blindly around an attachment.
Can Micro-Loop Extensions Be Reused?
